How we operate as an organization has a much greater impact on the overall supply chain than many people some may think. With employees being in high demand, I’m sure you can simply do your job and be successful in your supply chain vocation. Or you can step it up a notch, presenting new ideas, taking that extra effort to help your fellow employee, working in a forthright and engaging manner, and you will help make a good company, a great company.
I’m very proud of Hanson Teammates. Their diligent work in the new norm of COVID as made Hanson Logistics a more solid, professional and transparent organization; a great company. That alone would be worth mentioning during pre-pandemic times, but you factor in COVID protocols and a dramatic shift in frozen food delivery channels, and that caliber of performance nothing short of remarkable. It’s also highly valued by our customers, as our recent Net Promoter Score bears out.
It’s Hanson Teammates who make Hanson Logistics warehouses an efficient turn for truckload and LTL carriers. As an organization that believes drivers and trucks are key to a successful supply chain, we have the utmost respect for the men and women behind the wheel. Lengthy detention and excessive dwell time are unprofitable and usually avoidable penalties placed on drivers and carriers. Recent data show that industry wide, more than 75% of drivers cite detention of the #1 reason behind they miss their next appointment and the revenue associated with on-time delivery. Hours of service (HOS), driver shortages and tight capacity are increasingly important to the industry. One of the many KPI’s we track is driver detention/dwell time on loading and unloading at each of our facilities. We’re not where we need at all facilities, but our team has made significant improvements in the last year. Our Google Business rankings, an informal but important tool controlled pretty much by drivers, is higher than ever.
We are heading into what we hope is not the perfect storm: robust shipping months of retail holiday foods, tightening capacity of refrigerated trucks, and the safety constraints of COVID. Rest assured Hanson Teammates will meet the challenge with their “Yes We Can!” attitude.
