St. Joseph, MI – June 18, 2018 – Hanson Logistics announced today that Merlin Hanson has been appointed Chairman Emeritus. Mr. Hanson previously held the office of Chairman of the Board.
William (Bill) Marohn has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Hanson Logistics, succeeding Merlin Hanson. Marohn joined the Hanson Logistics Board of Directors 14 years ago and has served as its Lead Director for the past 2 years. Marohn brings to this role years of board experience having served on the Whirlpool Corporation Board of Directors for 6 years, the Rubbermaid Board of Directors for 5 years and the Newell /Rubbermaid Board of Directors for 12 years including serving as Chairman.
In a statement, Hanson said “I am pleased to have Bill Marohn assume the board leadership of Hanson Logistics. I have known Bill for nearly 40 years. We share many of the same values, and he is committed to the long-term success of Hanson Logistics.”
Quick to call himself a toolmaker by trade, Mr. Hanson purchased Southern Michigan Cold Storage in 1989, and under his leadership, rebranded the company as Hanson Logistics. The company has grown to nine facilities in Michigan and Indiana, employing 300 Teammates, with a refrigerated transportation fleet and the country’s largest and most successful frozen food consolidation program in Hobart, Indiana.
